Syerah was born and raised in Bombay, India where she completed her entire schooling as well as her first undergrad (Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Psychology and Economics) in tandem with a diploma in Hospitality and Tourism. Syerah worked at one of the best rated hotel groups in India (the Taj Group of Hotels) as their event planner and media relations coordinator. During this time, she completed a program in journalism and creative writing.

In 1991, Syerah moved to London, England where she continued to manage groups, media and events for the Trusthouse Forte Group of Hotels. Concurrently, Syerah successfully completed law school and graduated with LLB (Hons) from the University of London.

In 1998, Syerah moved to Toronto where, until recently, she practiced corporate/commercial law as an associate in a large law firm. She now manages her own law practice.

Although she finds her practice as a lawyer extremely rewarding, Syerah is also passionate about being South Asian and is thrilled with all the opportunities available in Toronto and North America generally to promote South Asian arts and perspectives within the South Asian diaspora itself and also to the mainstream community.

In 2006, Syerah acquired MyBindi.com, Canada’s leading website portal for all aspects of South Asian arts, entertainment and lifestyle. As MyBindi’s Editor-in-Chief and CEO, Syerah currently manages all of the company’s marketing initiatives as well as the publication of its e-newsletter which is sent to over 30,000 members every week

Dr. Jasmine D’Costa was born in India and moved to Canada in 2004. As an academic and international banker for 25 years,  Jasmine was published in many academic journals, business magazines and books on international relations, trade, investment, corporate finance and banking. In Canada, Jasmine D’Costa has pursued a career in writing. She now lives in Toronto and brings to the Canadian writing landscape an arresting new voice and her unique gift of nonpareil multicultural storytelling. Jasmine D’Costa is currently the President of the Writers and Editors Network and been a judge on the Canadian Aid Literary Contest. Curry is Thicker than Water is her first book which was officially launched on 25th Feb at the Gladstone Hotel in Downotown Toronto.
